Meet Durga Rathi
Durga Rathi has a Bachelors of Science in Neuroscience and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in mental health counseling at Hunter College. Throughout her life poetry and music have been some of her most powerful tools for healing.
She believes that our cultural identities inform how we process and deal with traumatic events, and that empowerment emerges when we weave together the pieces of ourselves that our communities haven’t yet made space for. Durga is therefore committed to making space for the complicated relationship some clients may have with their interlacing identities, especially as they forge their own unique paths toward healing.
She applies an eclectic approach to counseling, incorporating cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical-behavioral therapy, and mindfulness techniques tailored to each individual’s needs. Durga is being trained to serve Black, Indigenous, & Women of Color who are looking for safe spaces to explore their authentic power and tackle individual goals for personal wellness.
