Meet Maleeka Mitchell

As an individual who grew up in a Jamaican household in New York, Maleeka is no stranger to the strong opinions that may influence one’s mental well-being. Maleeka aims to provide a space that allows clients to shed this weight and believes that every person is the expert of their own journey.
Maleeka adopts a client-centered approach, wherein she seeks to collaborate with clients to explore their unique experiences, perspectives, and aspirations as they relate to feelings of anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. This collaborative process not only fosters mutual trust and understanding but also empowers clients to take an active role in shaping their therapeutic journey. Through empathy and patience, Maleeka aims to alleviate the apprehensions that clients may feel about seeking therapy.
Maleeka also believes that acknowledging and embracing all factors of one's identity is crucial for personal growth. By creating a safe and nurturing environment, she seeks to provide a space where individuals can let go of the burdens they often carry.
With an interest in assisting young adult and LGBTIA+ community, Maleeka is committed to bridging the gap between these individuals and mental health services. By cultivating a therapeutic environment that celebrates diversity and inclusivity, she aspires to empower these groups to embrace their authenticity and navigate life's challenges with resilience and confidence. Her goal is to foster a sense of belonging and acceptance, where all individuals feel seen, heard, and valued on their journey.
