Meet Tacha Fletcher

Founder/ Clinical Director/ Psychotherapist

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Founder of Wellness Tree Counseling Services, Tacha is passionate about mental health and supporting others on their journey to wellness.

Tacha has a deep understanding of the level of vulnerability  that it takes to seek therapy. Therefore, she aims to create a safe and nurturing atmosphere which allows you to delve deeper into your feelings of sadness, emptiness, loss, anxiety, worry, disconnect or maybe you are simply feeling stuck in life.

 

With an emphasis on resilience, Tacha and her team promotes wellness so that you are encouraged to rise to your full potential and engage life in meaningful ways.

Tacha enjoys working with Black, Indigenous and Women of Color (BIWOC) to address depression and anxiety related symptoms, trauma, life and relationship transitions including but not limited to parenting, postpartum, career, and adjustment to chronic illness.

Using an eclectic approach, her treatment is warm, compassionate, collaborative and culturally attuned. Tacha prides herself on the ability to bring in a fresh perspective into each session; leaving you feeling empowered and equipped with refined skills to heal.

 

Tacha has spent most of her work experience in various behavioral health settings including community-based organizations, outpatient mental health centers, and managed care organizations.

 

Outside of her clinical work, Tacha is an avid advocate for adults and children with physical disabilities, children with special needs, black maternal and infant health, access to mental and physical health care for minority groups, and mothers in the workplace.

She also enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending time with family.

Education & Qualification

Tacha is a graduate of Stony Brook's School of Social Welfare and received a Post-graduate Certificate from New York University in Advanced Clinical Practices. Additionally, she is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and recieved extensive trainings trauma informed evidenced-based treatments including Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Prolonged Exposure (PE) Therapy, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy.

After several years of practicing as a Licensed Therapist, Tacha pursued certification as a Holistic Life Coach in order to expand her expertise in helping people reach their personal and professional goals. She was personally trained and mentored by Alan Cohen, internationally renowned best-selling author of over 25 self-help books and contributor to the 'Chicken Soup for the Soul' series.
