Meet Ananda Genece
Clinical Intern

Ananda strongly values the mental wellbeing of womxn and emerging adults from all backgrounds while also understanding the many cultural barriers and misconceptions attached to vulnerability, expression, and healing. Non-judgment, validation, patience, empathy, and psychoeducation are things Ananda strives to bring in her sessions in order to create a brave and understanding space for others. Coming from a Caribbean background herself, Ananda is a strong advocate for the radical act of self care among marginalized communities and
individuals.
Currently pursuing a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling at NYU, Ananda hopes to work with individuals dealing with life’s challenges such as anxiety, conflicts, race-related and general stress, as well as those working towards their self-esteem, expression, and self-discovery. In collaboration with clients, Ananda hopes to assist others in discovering and harnessing their own strengths and solutions while overcoming these challenges. Incorporating various evidence-based practices using mainly CBT, Ananda uses an integrative approach that is specific to the client’s needs and character. She wants her sessions to be a safe and affirmative space for others to freely express, navigate, understand as well as heal from past and current experiences, while giving themselves grace through their journey.
During her free time, Ananda enjoys exploring any creative art mainly through sketching and photography. She also loves to read and spend quality time with her family and friends.
